Zagreb Boat Show 2026

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar took part in the Zagreb Boat Show, held from 18 to 22 February, with the exhibition “Ships Beneath the Waves.” Throughout the five-day event, the Centre presented the richness of Croatia’s underwater cultural heritage through an engaging and educational display.

The exhibition featured photographs of shipwrecks, underwater archaeological sites, and documentation of ongoing archaeological research conducted in the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. In addition to photographic material, visitors were able to explore accompanying texts and video presentations that revealed the historical contexts of various shipwrecks. Particular attention was drawn to the scale models of the vessels Serilija and Kondura, as well as the model of the wreck of the Austro-Hungarian steamship Baron Gautsch, one of the most well-known shipwrecks in the eastern Adriatic.

In addition to the exhibition itself, the Centre’s representatives introduced visitors to its mission and activities, as well as to the Educational and Presentation Centre for Underwater Archaeology St. Nicholas in Zadar.
