Research and archaeology course held in Rovinj 2025
Between 29 September and 10 October 2025, archaeologists from the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar (ICUA) carried out underwater research in Rovinj, where they investigated the remains of a Late Antique shipwreck located near the islet of Sveti Ivan.
The underwater archaeological research was conducted in collaboration with long-term partners from the Bayerische Gesellschaft für Unterwasserarchäologie (BGfU) with logistical support provided by Rovinj SUB and Kpa Rovinj.
Alongside the research, an advanced course in underwater archaeology was held, successfully completed by four participants – students and young researchers: Jordan Hanson (Ireland), Ernest Rappel (Germany), Maider Galparsoro Aierbe (Spain), and Agata Karan (Croatia).
