Opening ceremony of the St. Nicholas Centre for Education and Presentation in Zadar
Yesterday, ICUA Zadar witnessed the inauguration of the Education and Presentation Centre for Underwater Archaeology St. Nicholas.
The renovated former church of St. Nicholas hosted the opening ceremony, which started at 11:00 a.m.
Distinguished guests, including the Head of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe Mr. Siniša Šešum, Mayor of the City of Zadar Mr. Branko Dukić, Zadar County Prefect Mr. Božidar Longin and Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds of the Republic of Croatia Mr. Šime Erlić joined ICUA Zadar director Mr. Mladen Pešić, in delivering speeches.
The Minister of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia Ms Nina Obuljen Koržinek officially inaugurated the renovated complex of the former church and monastery of St. Nicholas in Zadar.
The ceremonial opening commenced with soprano Ms Nela Šarić performing the national anthem of the Republic of Croatia, accompanied by Mr. Tomislav Košta. Following this, cellist Ms Kajana Pačko presented a suitable musical program, marking the official segment of the event.
Afterwords, the permanent exhibition of underwater heritage was presented under the professional guidance of the ICUA Zadar staff within the newly inaugurated Education and Presentation Centre for Underwater Archaeology St. Nicholas
In the courtyard, an adequate banquet brought together all participants of the opening ceremony.
The evening festivities reached their pinnacle with a concert titled ‘'Hommage a Cellomania, in Memoriam Valter Dešpalj'' meticulously organized by the Zadar Concert Office.
