International Symposium on underwater archaeology, Taranto, Italy, 16 - 18 December 2021

Ministry of Culture of the Italian Republic and the National Superintendence for Underwater Cultural Heritage (Soprintendenza Nazionale per il Patrimonio Culturale Subacqueo) based in Taranto is organizing an international symposium to celebrate three important events concerning underwater archaeology at an international and national level. The year 2021 year, in fact, marks the twentieth Anniversary of the 2001 UNESCO Convention for the protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, the twentieth Anniversary of the Restaurare sott’acqua - Restoring Underwater Project, and the first year since the establishment of the Soprintendenza Nazionale per il Patrimonio Culturale Subacqueo, Institution belonging to the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The international event entitled 2001-2021 International Symposium of Underwater Archaeology (2001-2021 Simposio Internazionale di Archeologia Subacquea) will be held in Taranto, from 16 to 18 December 2021.
The event will be attended by representatives from various institutions such as Centre Camille Jullian (Aix-Marseille University in France),National Institute of Anthropology and Latin American Thought (INAPL) from Argentina, National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, University of Malta, University of Udine, University of Calabria, National Museum of Denmark, Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Hellenic Republic, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain and representatives from the Italian government and local institutions.
The international symposium will be participated by Ms Doris Kurtov, head of the international cooperation and funding department of ICUA Zadar.
