16th Symposium on the Mediterranean Archaeology

From the 1st to the 3rd of March 2012 16th Symposium on the Mediterranean Archaeology (16th SOMA) under name "" was held in Florence, Italy. Symposium was organized jointly by the University of Florence, CAMNES (Center for Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies) and GAMA (General Association of Mediterranean Archaeology) under the patronage of the City of Florence, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage of Italy and the Osservatorio del Mediterraneo. During three days about 300 lectures in 50 different sessions were given by the archaeologists from wider Mediterranean area. Presentations were related to different topics on identity and connectivity, mainly based on archaeological data collected within the Mediterranean basin and the Ancient Near Eastern area, chronologically ranging from Prehistoric to Medieval periods. Among others, Croatian underwater archaeological researches were presented by the archaeologists from International centre for underwater archaeology and Croatian conservation institute.
