Lecture on Suleyman´s Bridge in Istanbul
On the invitation of Turkish Foundation for Underwater Archaeology (TINA) and their president Oguz Aydemir, on 8th October 2013 Mladen Pešić held a lecture about researches on the remains of the Suleiman´s bridge at Darda that took place during 2009 and 2011 by the employees of the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in collaboration with the Croatian Conservation Institute. The lecture was held at the Koç University (Koç Üniversitesi) in the heart of Istanbul, and has attracted great number of public and experts. Beside recent researches, various data from historical sources about this bridge were presented. During field trip, a conservation workshop led by the University of Istanbul was visited. A part of conservation process could be seen, currently conducted on 36 Byzantine ships that were found in Istanbul during excavations for the underground metro.
