Cooperation with the Bulgarian Centre for Underwater Archaeology
Over the past two weeks, ICUA Zadar employees have successfully collaborated with the Bulgarian Centre for Underwater Archaeology from Sozopol. The goal of the project was to conduct a deep-sea scan of the outer side of Dugi Otok at depths exceeding 60 meters. The sophisticated side scan sonar technology, multibeam and underwater robots that our Bulgarian colleagues brought to Croatia were used to identify potential archaeological sites at locations that we have collected over the years, and further analysis of the collected data will provide insight into whether any of the surveyed locations could represent interesting shipwrecks.
