Experts for metal corrosion visited ICUA Zadar

On 19 and 20 September 2016 the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar hosted Jean-Bernard Memet and Phillipe de Vives, restorers and experts in the field of protection and corrosion of metal. Memet and de Vives held two public lectures entitled: "The recovery and conservation of the first successful maritime submarine: the HL Hunley - 1864" and "Cathodic polarization for the conservation and restoration of underwater artefacts". French restorers have also helped ICUA restorers prepare and begin the process of electrolysis of iron anchors from a Venetian merchant ship that sunk near islet Gnalić. This is the first cooperation between ICUA and French corporation A-Corrosion Expertise that should continue in the future.
