Presentation for Research Centre for Metal Industry held in ICUA Zadar
The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, on a Friday, the 16th of April 2010, held a presentation of all the features and services that the Research Centre for Metal Industry in Istrian County - MET.R.IS. provides for research on cultural heritage. The presentation was held by Davor Mandic, MSc in mechanical engineering, who presented MET.R.IS. and its basic activities and Tea Zubin, graduate conservator-restorer and student of applied chemistry in the conservation, who spoke about the importance and possibilities of research on cultural heritage with the help of modern equipment and technology that MET.R.IS. possesses. In MET.R.IS. is possible to analyze materials such as ceramics, stone, glass, paper, wood, samples of frescoes and oil paintings, which should help in choosing the best method of conservation and restoration of the analyzed objects. Through the services MET.R.IS. it is possible, among other things, to determine the origin and age of the objects being investigated and reasons for its decline. It is also possible to find out more about the artistic technique of the masters, past restored, and even check authenticity of the work.
